AD(H)D Support for Women

Making female AD(H)D visible – in every phase of life.

Female AD(H)D often presents differently than in boys and men, and is frequently recognised late or not at all. Adaptive behaviour, inner rather than outward restlessness and a burden that shifts across life phases make recognition harder still. AD(H)D Support for Women gives girls and women professionally grounded support, tailored to the life phase they are in.

Because the starting point differs greatly from person to person and from one life phase to the next, this service is deliberately offered not as a package but as individual sessions according to individual need. Scope and frequency are agreed together.

AD(H)D Support for Women replaces no psychotherapy and no psychiatric, gynaecological or medical treatment. It includes no diagnostics and no medication advice. For medical questions — in particular in connection with pregnancy, breastfeeding or the hormonal changes of peri-menopause — we refer to the responsible specialists (gynaecology, psychiatry, general practitioner).

Support in every phase of life

Female AD(H)D in girls and adolescents

Support for girls and young women in whom AD(H)D often shows up more quietly: adapted, performance-oriented, with a strong need for harmony. Themes include school and performance pressure, self-worth, social relationships and dealing with adaptive behaviour (“masking”).

AD(H)D around pregnancy and afterwards

Support for women with AD(H)D during pregnancy, birth and the time afterwards. Themes include organising the new everyday life with a child, dealing with exhaustion and sensory overload, and how existing strategies can be adapted in this phase. Questions about medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding belong expressly to medical care and are not advised on by NAHVA.

AD(H)D and peri-menopause

Support for women whose AD(H)D symptoms change or intensify in connection with the hormonal shift of peri-menopause. Themes include dealing with altered resilience, sleep and emotion regulation, and distinguishing what belongs to the life phase from what warrants medical assessment.

Included services

  • individual sessions of 60–75 minutes, frequency and number agreed individually
